It’s nice to know I’ll always have a home away from home at the old stomping grounds: The Crosby in downtown Santa Ana. The music and food here is guaranteed to be on point on any given night, and I’m not just being biased because I’ve come to know and respect the people who own/cook at/DJ at this place. Last night was yet another amazing (and quite interesting, but I’ll save those stories for my best friends) night with old friends. What made this night special for me was not only the people, but the added bonus that I was sober all night. I use the term “sober” loosely, since by “sober” I really mean that I stopped after two drinks, never once felt buzzed, was completely coherent and was, for once, able to recall every conversation I had. After cuttin’ a rug with my favorite dance partners, hair flying everywhere and just not giving a fuck how stupid (and sweaty) I look, I’m happy to report that being sober can be fun! Not to mention makes for a safe and enjoyable drive home in the rain after, say, dropping by Costa Mesa to visit my talented friends Jeff (12fv) and Andrew (inhousegoods). What a revelation, right?
